I just wanted to say how thankful I am for the strength of survivors – no matter where they are in their healing process, they are so much stronger than most people give them credit for. Be patient with survivors…the work it takes to face a trauma and heal from it is hard.
I’m thankful for the advocates, counselors, friends, and family that support survivors. Their work is often under-appreciated but essential.
I’m thankful for SASETA: Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Act – an Illinois law that requires survivors to have privacy in the hospital, a $0 medical bill, and much more.
And lastly, I’m thankful for you: the ones who read my blog, support the End Rape Culture movement, and aren’t afraid to speak up against a delicate issue. I appreciate you so much.
